“And how blessed all those in whom you live, whose lives become roads you travel” Psalm 84:5 (The Message)

There are lots of metaphors for the Christian life. Eugene Peterson’s version of Psalm 84 paints a picture of God as both sanctuary in verses 1-4 and then a joyous traveler. Verse 5 describes the geography of His journey.

They wind through lonesome valleys, come upon brooks,
discover cool springs and pools brimming with rain!
God-traveled, these roads curve up the mountain, and
at the last turn—Zion! God in full view!

The psalmist is talking about people-roads. These paths are not made by human hands; they reflect the wandering nature of the human heart. Each of us is a waypoint in His atlas.

Where is your life-path leading? Is the way clear for God? Take down the detour signs – let Him have the road.
