fragile as wildflowers

“These people are nothing but grass,
   their love fragile as wildflowers.
The grass withers, the wildflowers fade,
if God so much as puffs on them.
Aren’t these people just so much grass?
True, the grass withers and the wildflowers fade,
but our God’s Word stands firm and forever.”
Isaiah 40:7-8 (The Message)

Reminded of the frailty of life this week. A young man in our community died in a freak accident. Eighteen years old. Six days before Christmas. In an instant, in a moment, he passed from this world into the presence of God.

At this moment, nothing can heal the heartbreak of his parents or soothe the aching sadness of his friends. Those of us on the outside of this tragedy are left to ask how this could happen. How could God, a loving God, allow this young life to be taken? Questions but no answers for now.

We are fragile as wildflowers. The life that we live on this earth will end too soon. Since our time here is temporary, make the best of each numbered day. Take joy in the moment. Love the imperfect (and sometimes annoying) people in your life. Show integrity. Honor God.
